Estimates, not specifications

Everything this site produces is a planning estimate. The calculators apply straightforward geometry to the numbers you enter, then convert volume to weight using a stated assumption about material density. They do not inspect your site, your subgrade, your drainage, or the material a supplier actually delivers.

Use the output to have a better-informed conversation with your supplier or contractor. Do not use it as a final order quantity, a construction specification, or a substitute for professional engineering advice.

Why the numbers can differ from reality

• Density varies. We assume 100 lb per cubic foot for plain sand and 90 for blended footing. Real material commonly runs anywhere from roughly 90 to 110 lb per cubic foot depending on grading, moisture content, and mix recipe.
• Suppliers sell differently. Some sell by weight, some by volume, some by the truckload. Conversions between those introduce rounding.
• Sites are not flat. Grading, compaction, settling, and an uneven base all change how much material a given area actually swallows.
• Depth is a decision, not a constant. The right depth depends on discipline, horse, climate, and base construction.

You are responsible for verifying quantities before you buy and for the safety of any surface you build.

Acceptable use

You are welcome to use these calculators for personal or commercial planning, free of charge. You may not scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for others, republish the calculators as your own, or present the output as independently certified.
